Will the Lara-Priyanka Andaaz charm?

Bollywood's Armaan for a hit continues. All eyes are now on Akshay Kumar's unique Andaaz to do the rescue act. The 'twinkle' in his eye notwithstanding, Khiladi Kumar is taking his reputation of being a ladies man a tad too far. Come on, haven't you seen him serenading not one but two beauty queens! Talk about Andaaz especially when Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra are the girls in his arms! Hmm, the threesome make a pretty picture don't they? Hopefully the feeling will translate on celluloid on Friday when their triangle Andaaz will be up for public scrutiny at Batra cinema! Directed by Raj Kanwar (Jeet, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Jaan), Andaaz is "an intensely emotional film" that explores the fine line(s) between love, friendship, commitment, passion, devotion and obsession. Akshay plays an Air Force officer caught between Lara and Priyanka -the former being his love while he, himself being the love of the latter! Ironically, for all of Akki's macho presence, Andaaz is creating buzz because of its leading ladies who are being touted as the 'next best things'. While Lara is making her first screen appearance, Priyanka played a forgettable cameo in The Hero. Says Vinay Gambhir, manager, Batra cinema, "The craze is for the two beauty queens. People want to see who is better. Youngsters are making enquiries." Interestingly, Akshay feels his name should be in some kind of record book since he's the first actor to perform with the two beauty queens but he is forgetting that a certain Mr Salman Khan has already done the deed in Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge by starring opposite title holders Sushmita Sen and Diya Mirza! Well, let's hope the audience likes the Andaaz of the threesome!
